Qijiachuan Tibetan: Tsongkha Taktser - village located in Ping'an County where the present 14th Dalai Lama was born. The home was rebuilt in 1986 and relatives currently live there.
Xiaqiongsi Tibetan: Jakhyung Gompa - located near the village of Zhaba, this is the place where Tsongkhapa, founder of the Gelukpa order, came and renounced the world and so could be considered the birthplace of the Gelukpa order.
Xunhua Xunhua Salar Autonomous County - location of a large number of Salar Muslim peoples who speak Salar, a language related to Turkish. They are said to have migrated here after Genghis Khan surrounded Samarkand.
